Support for You and Your Veterinary Team
Welcome to VetSupport – a company dedicated to supporting veterinarians and their support staff teams through consulting and advising services, staff training and online education, and data-driven practice management support and training.
Brenda Tassava, CVPM, CVJ, is a veterinary business consultant who founded VetSupport as an extension of Tassava Consulting in direct response to overwhelming feedback from her clients and all the practices she has worked with over the past several years.
Working with other Certified Veterinary Practice Managers, Ms. Tassava saw an opportunity to create a collaborative solution by providing efficient, interactive, and engaging consulting and training tools for veterinary hospitals. In further collaboration with VetSuccess, the CVPMs of VetSupport have been bringing data-driven phone consults to practices all over North America since 2015. Members of VetSuccess are able to schedule a 45-minute consultation to review their practice data with an experienced CVPM, and gain valuable insight to the steps they can take to make positive changes within their practices.
VetSupport is staffed by a dedicated full-time consultant, Brandon Hess, CVPM, CCFP and an executive assistant, Jesi Tassava. They lead and help produce the work of other independent CVPM consultants, hospital administrators, and practice managers who contribute as phone consultants, authors and training instructors at VetSupport.
Take some time to explore our website. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, or you have a consulting or training need that isn’t being met by other resources, drop me a line so that we can explore your thoughts and ideas!

Brandon Hess, CVPM, CCFP

With a degree in Psychology, and a background in managing companion animal practices, as well as an award-winning AAHA-accredited emergency and specialty practice, Brandon brings a great deal of hands-on experience to the VetSupport team. Other facts about Brandon include:
- He earned his certification as a compassion fatigue professional (CCFP) in 2016.
- Brandon and his wife, Michelle live in the Cincinnati area with their 3 dogs and 4 cats.
- When he’s not working, you can find him pursuing his other passions of snorkeling and scuba diving.
Lisa Yackel, CVPM, PHR, SHRM-CP
Lisa has been in the veterinary industry for over forty years. Starting in the kennel as a teenager, she worked as a technician until back issues had her reassess her role in the veterinary hospital setting. In 1990 she became the Office Manager at Case Veterinary Hospital when it was a two doctor, 7 staff member team. At her retirement as Hospital Administrator at Case in August of 2016, the practice had grown to a 5 doctor, 32 staff member hospital.
In 1994, Lisa achieved her Certified Veterinary Practice Manager designation and in 2003, she earned her Professional in Human Resource designation. She served on the CVPM Board in several positions for over fifteen years and was Chair of the board from 2009-2011. In 2015, she was humbled to be presented the VHMA’s President’s Award.
Lisa is the owner of Bird’s Eye-view Veterinary Consulting and is currently a phone consultant for VetSupport. Writing course content for Vetsupport was a good fit for her as she truly enjoys helping others grow and learn in a field that she is so passionate about.
In her personal life, Lisa has been married for 38 years and has one adult son who lives close by with his family. Sharing her home on the river with family, especially her 8 year old grandson, and friends is her passion and she enjoys any chance she can get to be on the river in their boat. She has a Cairn Terrier rescue mix that keeps her on her toes and reminds her why she thinks veterinary medicine is one of the most rewarding professions there is.
Ben Spinks, MBA, CVPM
Ben Spinks temporarily (or so he thought) entered the veterinary industry in his current capacity in 2004. He planned on helping a veterinary practice “run some numbers” over the summer to delay his inevitable entry into the corporate world. That one summer stretched longer than he anticipated, and he’s been the Hospital Administrator at Tipp City Veterinary Hospital ever since.
In addition to his role at TCVH, Ben helps other veterinary hospitals and small businesses run more efficiently as the owner of Branchworth Consulting. Ben is a 2004 graduate of Miami University (B.Phil.) and 2014 graduate of Wright State University (MBA). Ben became CVPM certified through the VHMA in 2013. He resides in Tipp City, Ohio with his two doodles, Claire and Finn, and cat, Oscar. Away from work, he enjoys traveling, reading, cycling and spending time with family and friends.
Jesi is the VetSupport Executive Assistant. After graduating from Butler University, she joined the VetSupport team in May 2016. She is also currently a graduate student at Michigan State University. Not only is she a real life “Millennial-in-the-workplace,” but she is also the pet parent to 2 cats, named Sierra and Opal. After a move to Vancouver, WA in 2017 she represents the VetSupport “west” office.
